In last decades, anti-aging became one of the hottest topics in Korean beauty industry. This is partly due to the fact that more and more people have begun to care about their looks and appearance, but also because of the growing number of people suffering from skin aging signs such as wrinkles, dullness or hyperpigmentation (dark spots). In this background, one of the most popular ingredients in k-beauty products is Glutathione. It's a powerful antioxidant that counteracts darkening and melanin synthesis while it helps get glowing and flawless skin.

What is Glutathione?

Glutathione is a tripeptide composed of

three amino acids: cysteine, glutamine and glycine. It is made in the liver and

kidneys, but it can also be found in high concentrations in your skin.

Glutathione plays an important role as an

antioxidant, which means it helps to neutralize harmful molecules that can

cause cell damage or death. It plays a critical role in maintaining healthy

skin by protecting against damage caused by free radicals, which are unstable

molecules that can cause damage to cells and accelerate aging.

Free radicals are produced as a by-product

of normal metabolism in the body, and they can accumulate over time, causing

significant damage to the body's tissues. Antioxidants protect the body from

free radicals by interrupting and neutralizing their destructive activity

before they can cause harm. They may also prevent existing free radicals from

doing more damage on their own.

Glutathione is an antioxidant that’s

naturally produced in your body, but we can also get it from food sources like

eggs and liver meat Glutathione works together with vitamin C and other

antioxidants to maintain elasticity and brighten skin tone, as well as reducing

signs of aging like wrinkles or dark spots.

Why should we replenish Glutathione?

As you age, your body’s ability to produce

glutathione decreases, so it’s important for you to take a supplement if you

want to stay healthy as time goes on. Glutathione supplements are available in

pill form or can be added into your diet through certain foods like eggs and

almonds (which are high in l-glutamine).

Glutathione also helps your body manufacture its own collagen which is the reason behind glowing skin. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body,

and it's responsible for keeping skin firm and elastic. It also makes up a key

component in the skin's structure. Glutathione helps your body make more collagen, which leads to better hydration of cells that give rise to healthy looking complexion as we age. The firmness and elasticity of your skin can be improved by taking glutathione

supplements and this leads to fewer wrinkles and fine lines. Glutathione also

reduces blemishes and freckles. It helps to clear up acne,

and it also helps fade age spots, scars and other blemishes associated with

aging.

It seems like the beauty

world has been inundated with so many products that claim to be the fountain of

youth. Well, if you aren't already on the list of believers… Add glutathione to

it.
